April 2018

Jamestown Primary Care (JPC) wishes to announce that Dr. Rudy Mueller will be leaving the group to pursue an opportunity at the Jamestown VA clinic on Third St. in Jamestown as the Medical Director to serve our veterans. We wish him well in this endeavor and we know that he will be an advocate for the health of our veterans.

Dr. Rudy expressed, “It is with a heavy heart that I will be leaving Jamestown Primary Care as of April 22, 2018. I have been honored and privileged to care for my patients over the years, some longer than a quarter of a century! I thank them for their faith and trust in my care. Hopefully, I can improve and deliver high quality care to our local Veterans. I have a deep respect for their service to our Country and have long wanted to give back to them for their heroic service.”

Dr. Mueller was a founding member of Jamestown Primary Care in 1996 when the group was formed from the separate practices of:

Diane Mueller, MD

Patrick Collins, MD

Andrea Johnson, MD

Wolf-Dieter Krahn, MD

And past partner, Ed Davis, MD.

All of the doctors have served the Jamestown community since the late 1980’s or early 1990’s. Dr. Catherine Powers joined the group in 2005. The group celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2016.

After a careful review of the situation at JPC coupled with the desire to maintain the best possible quality of care for their own patients, the remaining physicians regret that they cannot absorb Dr. Rudy Mueller’s patients at this time. The group has tried to recruit a new physician and will continue efforts to recruit providers to the area.

“It really is a difficult announcement for the group. On the one hand, we applaud Rudy’s great opportunity to serve our veterans and offer leadership to the VA staff, but on the other hand we will be losing a physician and a valuable member of the practice. Still, we are so glad that Dr. Mueller will remain in our community.” Said, Kathleen Stanton, Medical Group Administrator.

Partner, Wolf-Dieter Krahn, MD wishes Rudy well and knows that he will offer great care to the area’s veterans.

Pat Collins, MD added that Rudy will be an asset to the VA. We are serious about bringing new physicians to our community. Along with UPMC, we are exploring the possibility of a Family Practice Residency program which is still in the early planning stages but that would combine the medical experience of three family practice groups in the area and promise a brighter hope of recruiting family physicians to our area.

Dr. Johnson wants to assure patients that she plans on seeing patients until she is no longer capable of working. As a native of Jamestown, she strongly believes in providing patients with a medical home in her home town.

Diane Mueller, MD, Rudy’s wife of 35 years, will continue to see patients at Jamestown Primary Care. Dr. Diane Mueller stated that she very much enjoys her patients and will continue to practice medicine.

The group’s plan for the immediate future is to recruit Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to partner with physicians to form medical teams that co-manage patients along with nursing and support staff. We pride ourselves on the continuity of care which we have always provided to patients by assigning patients to a physician who is then responsible for coordinating care for a unique panel of patients.

Jamestown Primary Care has earned the distinction as a Patient-Centered Medical Home which is a program of the National Committee on Quality Assurance. This distinction was renewed in January of 2018 for another three years. Being recognized as a PCMH is an achievement that we can be proud of.
